People think Jaipur is forts and shopping. Those of us who grew up here know the Aravallis cradle the city with ridges, trails and sunrise points that most tourists — and most Jaipurites — never see. Here are my seven favourites.
Nahargarh to Amer — the classic ridge walk
The most rewarding trail in Jaipur. Start at Nahargarh Fort before sunrise, follow the old rampart walls down toward Amer, and watch the Pink City wake up below you. About 7 km, easy-moderate, best done October to March.
Chour Ghati & the Sun Temple trail
South of Galta Ji, this trail climbs to a quiet Sun Temple on the ridge and continues to a hidden lake in monsoon. Wild peacocks, langurs, and zero crowds on a weekday morning.
Bhuteshwar Nath Mahadev — the monsoon favourite
A forest trail near Sisodia Rani Bagh that ends at a Shiva temple beside a seasonal waterfall. July to September it feels nothing like Rajasthan — green, wet and alive.

See the tripBeyond the city — Pushkar, Sariska & more
Within two hours you have the Savitri temple hill in Pushkar, the Sariska buffer forests, and the stepwell village trails of Abhaneri. These make perfect weekend add-ons — our Pushkar weekend trip pairs the Savitri sunrise climb with the lake and bazaar.
How to trek the Aravallis responsibly
These hills are old, dry and fragile. Carry your water, carry back your trash, stay off trails after dark, and go with someone who knows the terrain — the Aravallis are gentle but they are still wilderness.
