The Journey

Fifteen days after Diwali, the gods themselves are said to descend to the Ganga — and all 84 ghats answer with a million diyas. Fireworks over the water, aarti at every step, and the river turned to liquid gold. Dev Deepawali is Varanasi's most magical night, and boats sell out weeks ahead. Ours are already reserved.

  • Dev Deepawali night from a private boat on the Ganga
  • A million diyas across all 84 ghats — the rarest sight in India
  • Dawn boat ride & old-city walk the morning after
  • Sarnath, silk weavers' lanes & the kachori-gali food trail
